Stray Kids’ BangChan Name-Drops YouTuber for Spreading Fake News & Calls Out Solo Fans!

Stray Kids leader Bang Chan recently made headlines after directly calling out a YouTuber for spreading misinformation about the group.

On September 15, through the Bubble messaging app, BangChan addressed a fan-run YouTube channel named STAY_Central, saying:

STAY_Central, get your facts straight. Don’t spread misinfo, thanks.

This marks the first time Bang Chan has explicitly name-dropped an account while correcting false claims, surprising fans who are used to him speaking against misinformation in a more general way.

Many Stray Kids fans expressed pride in his bold move, noting how rare it is for K-pop idols to publicly identify individuals or channels spreading harmful content.

Alongside this, Bang Chan also voiced his frustration toward solo stans. Despite his encouragement to celebrate both Han and Felix’s birthdays, some fans allegedly refused to send them well-wishes because they identified only as “Chan stans.” Responding to this, he wrote:

You’re not going to because you’re my solo stan? Then don’t bother stanning me lol.

His straightforward tone went viral, with fans praising him for standing up for his members and the group’s unity.

Following the backlash, STAY_Central initially released a statement denying intentional misinformation, claiming all videos were based on official Stray Kids content. The channel’s admin wrote:

I don’t know which of my videos Bang Chan said was wrong… If anyone has accurate information regarding this, please let me know. I will verify it and make corrections.

However, fans criticized the response as insincere, pointing out that the channel had previously been accused of clickbait and spreading unverified information. Later, the admin issued a more formal apology, admitting there was indeed misinformation in one of their Shorts and confirming the video had been deleted.

I bow my head in sincere apology for causing confusion and concern… This was unequivocally my fault for failing to fact-check. Moving forward, I will ensure all information is carefully cross-referenced with official sources.”

Despite the apology, many STAYs remain skeptical, especially after screenshots surfaced of the channel’s admin allegedly liking negative comments about Bang Chan. Fans have since warned others not to trust the channel, calling it “just another account farming engagement with clickbait titles.”

With this moment going viral, it has opened a wider conversation among fans about the responsibility of content creators and the harmful impact of false information in K-pop communities.
