On October 10, BABYMONSTER released their new mini album along with the title track “We Go Up.”
The music video immediately caught attention for its darker, action-heavy concept — a sharp contrast from the group’s previous styles.
Fans praised the group for trying something new, pointing out the strong visuals, intense fight scenes, and cinematic gun moments that showcased a more mature image.

However, soon after the MV’s release, ATEEZ fans began accusing BABYMONSTER of plagiarism.
According to several posts on X, viewers pointed out specific similarities — such as Chiquita’s fighting scene being almost identical to San’s fight sequence in “BOUNCY” and Rora’s gun scene resembling Hongjoong’s gun moment.
Some fans even claimed the camera angles and overall scene direction appeared “copied angle by angle.”

Outraged ATEEZ fans expressed frustration online.
The backlash also stems from a long-running complaint among ATEEZ fans that other K-pop artists have copied the group’s creative visuals and powerful concepts without giving credit.
dude wth you mean to tell me not a single person could come up with a new creative idea like do we not have any thoughts of our own this is so annoying ateez puts there blood, sweat and tears into everything they do and you people just copy them 🙄 https://t.co/UmSAZCZKe4

Ongoing poor coping in the quotes. I think it is quite strange how many go by the logic that “no one wants to copy ATEEZ” due to them being from a smaller company than these girls are, when in reality that makes it easier to get away with copying or full on plagiarism 🤷🏻♀️ https://t.co/MZGMVprpks

However, BABYMONSTER fans defended the group, arguing that fight scenes and gun sequences are common in music videos and action-based visuals across the industry.
They insisted that the accusations are exaggerated, saying that such elements aren’t exclusive to ATEEZ.
These being the common fight choreography in action movies ateez fans should stop embarassing themselves by making everything about their fav anyways stream soty 😙✌🏼pic.twitter.com/1HNGKYLe9W https://t.co/rLcNOdWnOk

As of now, neither YG Entertainment nor BABYMONSTER has addressed the plagiarism allegations. The debate between the two fandoms continues to grow online, with some calling it coincidence and others labeling it clear imitation.
