Fans Boycott tvN After Controversial Blurring of BTS’s Suga

On August 26th, the tvN STORY entertainment program ‘Chairman, your people’ released a pre-released video on its official YouTube channel, offering a glimpse into the upcoming episode.
The highlight of the video featured Hanbok artisan Park Sool-nyeo, who showcased her exquisite hanbok designs, including those worn by BTS during their rookie days and the hanbok donned by singers on TV Chosun’s popular show ‘Mr. Trot’.

In the pre-released footage, viewers were treated to a rare group photo of Park Sool-nyeo alongside the members of BTS. However, the video quickly became a hot topic for reasons beyond fashion. eagle-eyed fans noticed Suga’s face was obscured with mosaic processing. Similarly, the footage from ‘Mr. Trot’ also featured Kim Ho-joong with his face blurred out.

This decision comes amidst a recent scandal involving Suga. On the night of August 6th, he was caught riding an electric scooter while intoxicated in Seoul.
Suga publicly apologized for the incident at Yongsan Police Station and later expressed his remorse in a handwritten letter posted on Weverse, where he acknowledged the harm caused to BTS and his fans and stated his willingness to face any consequences.

BTS Fans have expressed their frustration and anger towards tvN. Many are demanding an apology from the network for the mosaic-processing of Suga faces, which they believe was an unnecessary and insensitive move.

Oh, but it's a cultural thing. We have to respect it.
