On September 18th, singer-songwriter IU marked her 16th debut anniversary by once again extending her generosity to those in need.
Her agency, EDAM Entertainment, revealed that IU donated a total of 225 million won (approximately $170,000) to several charities, including the Korean Children’s Incurable Disease Association, Milk Delivery for the Elderly, Hansarang Village, and Hansarang Infant Home.
The donations were made under the name “IUAENA,” a combination of IU’s stage name and the name of her official fan club, UAENA.
IU has been making donations under this name annually as a way to express her gratitude for the unwavering love and support she has received from her fans throughout her career. This year’s donation will be used to support various initiatives, such as covering treatment costs, education, and psychological counseling for children with rare and incurable diseases.
Additionally, it will help provide milk deliveries and home visits to seniors living alone, assist with replacing aging elevators in facilities for the severely disabled, and contribute to creating better living environments in orphanages and covering rehabilitation costs.
Beyond her debut anniversary, IU consistently engages in philanthropic efforts on special occasions such as Children’s Day, year-end holidays, and her birthday. Her commitment to sharing has not only inspired others to participate in charity but has also made a lasting positive impact on society, promoting the values of care and coexistence.
Speaking through her agency, IU expressed her gratitude: “Thanks to UAENA, I have gained a heart and values filled with love, and I am happy that I can do meaningful work like this every year under the name ‘IUAENA.’ Although it is a small help, I hope it will be a good gift to those who receive it.”
Meanwhile, IU is gearing up for her much-anticipated ‘2024 IU HEREH WORLD TOUR CONCERT ENCORE: THE WINNING,’ which will take place at Seoul World Cup Stadium on September 21st and 22nd.
