NCT’s Taeil is under scrutiny following the revelation of an ongoing police investigation into charges of a sexual crime. The controversy has intensified as netizens have unearthed past comments he made on a popular entertainment program, leading to widespread criticism.
On August 29th, a post highlighting Taeil’s appearance on the KBS2 show “The Return of Superman” in September 2022 began circulating on social media.
During the episode, Taeil was asked about his thoughts on having children. Initially, he responded, “I haven’t thought about it yet,” but he then expressed his desire to start a family, stating, “My dream is to have a family, so I want my wife and baby to be with me.“
When pressed about his preference for the gender of a second child, Taeil remarked, “A daughter! I think I would raise a daughter very carefully because she’s precious.” he said. Taeil also noted, “But I think I would be able to raise a son like a friend, so that’s good.“
These comments, which were seemingly innocent at the time, have now sparked outrage among netizens in light of the serious allegations against him.
Many have taken to social media to express their disapproval, with some questioning the sincerity of his statements.
One user commented, “He said on air that he wanted to have a daughter, so this is a sex crime? That’s funny,” while another remarked, “My daughter is precious, but you don’t value other people’s daughters?“

The backlash comes after the Bangbae Police Station in Seoul confirmed that they have been investigating Moon Taeil on charges of a sexual crime since June. While the specific details of the incident are still under investigation, the news has already had significant consequences for the idol.
SM Entertainment,also released a statement acknowledging the situation. “We discussed it with Taeil and decided on his withdrawal from the group,” the agency announced. “We recognized the seriousness of the matter and decided that he could no longer continue team activities. We will reveal our additional position depending on the progress of the investigation.”
As the investigation continues, the future of Taeil’s career remains uncertain, and the fallout from his past comments continues to grow.
